The Story . . . .
I've been a free-lance-illustrator since 1962, and have sketched/painted the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly to make a living. When I got my first fashion-illustration project, I was on top of the world, and it got better and better. The highest accolades and the worst insults are received in advertising; and meeting with the glamorous and the lecherous could all happen on the same day. Long hours at the drawing board and fast, dependable turnaround returned a bounty of recognition: I was the most sought-after fashion illustrator in the region. Fashion photography took it all away, and the art was lost forever. I had such a wonderful ride while it lasted; and I managed to clandestinely rescue a lot of my work. |
. . . . And then I discovered watercolor painting
which I had never done before but got great experience from my fashion-illustration using ink washes. I was hooked; began accumulating a body of work which eventually would appear in exhibitions. A large, prolific family ensures me endless material for portraits; many green thumbs provide all I need for florals, and a painter's eye detects objects everywhere that beg to be immortalized. Being a member of many watercolor societies stimulates creativity, along with the nudge of exhibition deadlines. Sales tax and shipping fees are included in the cost of all products.
